Η 40χρονη Keely Jones από την Β. Καρολίνα των ΗΠΑ εντόπισε ένα, σχεδόν ανεπαίσθητο, σημάδι στον κρόταφο. Εμοιαζε με ελιά, αλλά στην πραγματικότητα ήταν καρκίνος του δέρματος.
Πολλοί θα το είχαν αγνοήσει, αλλά ευτυχώς η 40χρονη ιδιοκτήτρια εταιρίας προϊόντων ομορφιάς θορυβήθηκε και πήγε στον δερματολόγο για εξέταση.
Οπως αναφέρει η ίδια ήταν το μόνο κοκκινωπό σημάδι που είχε στο πρόσωπο και το σώμα της.
Το αποτέλεσμα της εξέτασης την σόκαρε. Ηταν καρκίνος του δέρματος. Συγκεκριμένα ήταν δερματικό σύμπτωμα βασικοκυτταρικού καρκινώματος.

I hesitated to share these pics because I know it may be gross or shocking to see in your newsfeeds. But if this post encourages even ONE person to set up a dermatology appointment and be checked, then it’s worth it.
A few months ago I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a slow growing and highly treatable form of #skincancer that often begins in our youth. See that tiny dot in the first pic? That’s all that showed on the surface - but once they started the Mols surgery, 3 removals were needed to get all of the #cancer out of there. This is common as there is often 50-100% more infected area than shows on the surface. Internal & external stitches were needed, and they are hopeful I’ll have a minimal scar within 2-3 months.
I’m looking, and feeling, a bit like I lost a brawl right now. But I’m glad this procedure is behind me & that God led me to Inis Spa where Mary encouraged me to get checked. There were Tricare insurance obstacles, finding time to fit this in and thoughts of, “I could never have skin cancer since I avoid the sun”... through all of this, I still felt the tug to go. Undoubtedly God was working in my life through these instances.
I’ll share more soon - but wanted to provide an update for those that have been praying & checking on me. If you’ve never been to the #dermatologist or it’s been a while since you’re last visit.... please call them ASAP.

«Βλέπετε αυτό το μικροσκοπικό σημαδάκι στην πρώτη εικόνα; Αυτό ήταν το μοναδικό που φαινόταν στην επιδερμίδα μου», έγραψε χαρακτηριστικά η 40χρονη που χρειάστηκε να κάνει 3 χειρουργικές επεμβάσεις για να το αφαιρέσει τελείως.
Οι φωτογραφίες είναι σοκαριστικές αλλά αποδεικνύουν ότι ο περισσότερος καρκίνος του δέρματος ήταν κρυμμένος κάτω από την επιφάνεια του δέρματός της.
Οπως αναφέρει η ίδια, παρατήρησε το σημάδι όταν έκανε καθαρισμό προσώπου. «Δεν έχω συνήθως κηλίδες στο πρόσωπό μου, γι’ αυτό ήταν ασυνήθιστο για μένα να έχω ένα τέτοιο σημάδι», έγραψε η 40χρονη και πρόσθεσε: «Νόμιζα ότι ήταν απλώς ένα δύσκολο και επίμονο’σπυράκι, γι’ αυτό συνέχισα να το σκαλίζω και κάθε φορά απλώς άνοιγε λίγο και αιμορραγούσε, αλλά δεν έφευγε».
Το βασικοκυτταρικό καρκίνωμα είναι η πιο κοινή μορφή καρκίνου του δέρματος. Συνήθως αναπτύσσεται σε μέρη που τα βλέπει ο ήλιος, όπως το κεφάλι, ο λαιμός και τα χέρια, σύμφωνα με την Αμερικανική Ακαδημία Δερματολογίας.
«Μοιράστηκα αυτές τις φωτογραφίες, γιατί παρόλο που ξέρω ότι είναι σοκαριστικές, ελπίζω να ενθαρρύνει έστω ένα άτομο να εξεταστεί από δερματολόγο. Τότε θα αξίζει τον κόπο», έγραψε στο Facebook.
Αν εντοπιστεί εγκαίρως, όπως στην περίπτωση της 40χρονης Keely Jones, το βασικοκυτταρικό καρκίνωμα θεραπεύεται.
